What a Great Season

Thank you all again for such a fantastic weekend. We really lucked out with the weather and I think/hope everyone had a good time.

I had a wonderful time and am very proud of Red Thread Dragons this year. In addition to our personal bests with the 2:21 and climbing into H division, I thoroughly enjoyed "working" with each and every one of you. You are all a lot of fun to paddle with (-- even if I only did it in spirit), you all worked very hard and the passion on the boat was evident.

Thank you again for having me as your captain. I do enjoy it but it's nice to also feel appreciated -- and I do.

Thank you for those of you who adapted to our needs this weekend, David, Ken and Nikki paddling opposite sides, and Stephanie and Nikki hopping on drum.

Thank you Dom, once again, for being such an amazing coach. You really clearly work well for us -- we like your consistency, your focus on good technique and the fact you helped us improve so much this year. We look forward to many more years with you.

Thank you Doug and Nick for helping us out and being very much part of the team socially too.

Thank you Robin for doing a great job organizing the food. Thank you Michelle for fulfilling the tedious task of organizing ferry tickets.

I have included some photos but am not sure they are going through as they are currently all grey at the top of my screen right now. Anyone who has team pics -- especially if in good resolution, please forward along. We'd like a nice one for our website.

Just to recap for everyone:

Race one: 2:2174 -- first place

Race two: 2:24:29 --3rd place

Cup Race: A Championship: 0:56:84 -- 4th place (3rd place was 0;56;79)

Final race: H division --2:24:97 -- 5th place

All very respectable. Well done everyone!!

Is there anyone who'd like to volunteer to assemble parking lot info? Some of us were discussing sharing where we parked this weekend, and cost. Many of us parked at the Toronto Star but, I also know a number of you scored better deals. I will collect the info if no one else wants to and will just file it for next year. I expect though, that someone else will make a much better job of it!

Stay posted for a possible get-together in the summer. Also, we will have our official close to the season dinner at the Mandarin in September. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon enough but for now, for some of you, "paddles down".

Your proud and happy captain(!),
