HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Hello Red Thread Dragons!
I hope you are enjoying a fabulous off-season and are looking forward to getting back on the water in a few months.
(I can already hear some of you panicking about the few extra pounds you just ate on over the holidays....worry not, there is still lots of time).
This is just a friendly "hello" email to remind you of the team and to let you know some info about the upcoming season
should you decide to be part of the 2012 season.
1. This marks our 10th year as a team! Any ideas on how to celebrate? Let me know!
2. We will see a slight name change this year as our organization name is now:
Family and Friends of Open Arms to International Adoption.
We hope this name will be viewed as more reflective of who we really are.
3. We are looking into booking 2 extra dry land training sessions (in addition to our 5 water practices) at the OPA gym (http://opadvantage.net/trainingcentre) on Lakeshore near Islington. The idea would be to get some off-water technique training from a coach who will meet our needs and help us to perform better once we hit the water. In this way, we will not waste time with the basics once we hit the lake. Proposed starting date would be April 21 or 28. These sessions will not change our registration fee (TBD -- around $170). So, we would have a total of 7 practices. As you can see by the dates, I am looking at getting our usual Saturday morning one-hour practice.
4. Race weekend is June 23-24. (NOT Father's Day weekend, for once!)
5. Are we still wanting a kid practice in the summer?
6. CONFIRMATION NEEDED for 2012 season. I would like to have 24 of us on this year's roster, if you are wanting to ensure your spot on the boat, please email me right now so I can include you on the 2012 crew. If you aren't sure just yet, that's ok but I will need commitments by February or so, when I email out registration info and all that stuff. First come, first served....knowing who will be back asap helps me to know how many new people I can take.
